Rudd Winery is open for visits, by appointment only, Tuesday through Saturday. We are closed on Sundays, Mondays and on major holidays.

Some of the reddest, rockiest soils in California anchor the vines here at Rudd Vineyards in Oakville, located along the foothills of the Vaca Mountains on the eastern benchland of this world-renowned appellation. The rocks and gravel provide excellent drainage, an important requirement for producing exceptional wine grape

The modest stone winery sits atop 22,000 square feet of subterranean caves, dug directly into the rocky hillside. Here the grapes are fermented in small, square stainless steel tanks, custom designed for maximum concentration and extraction. Once fermented, the wine is fed via gravity into the caves to be barrel-aged in optimum conditions. Beginning with the 2000 vintage, Rudd Winery is producing red wine from the Oakville vineyard that has been re-planted to the five Bordeaux varietals of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Malbec and Petit Verdot.
